Xavier Woods was given a surprising warning.

After signing with WWE in 2010, Xavier Woods spent three years in Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT before arriving on the main roster. While he initially teamed with R-Truth, Woods really found his feet after the creation of The New Day a year later.

Despite some initial struggles and creative missteps, the trio went on to become a dominant force with with Big E and Kofi Kingston becoming World Champions, while Woods was King of the Ring in 2021. However, it was as a tag team that the group really cemented its legacy holding the tag team gold for a then-record 483 days.

On the December 2nd edition of Raw, WWE will celebrate a decade of The New Day despite the increasing tension between Woods and Kingston.

Xavier Woods Was Told He Was Too Similar To Kofi Kingston

In a new video on WWE’s YouTube channel, the trio looked back on their run together, and Woods recalled being told to stay away from Kingston as they were deemed too similar.

“My entire WWE career, I’d been told to stay away from Kofi. Not because he’s bad, but because we’re very similar.

In wrestling, you’ve got to carve out your own spot and they say, ‘If Kofi’s doing this and we automatically see you and imagine that you’re kinda a secondary Kofi, that’s not going to be good for you.’ And so I always stayed away from him.”

It’s been reported that “multiple ideas” have been pitched for Big E’s return to WWE television as part of the celebrations on Raw. The former World Champion has been out of action for well over two years after suffering a broken neck in a match on SmackDown.
