Why WWE’s Treatment Of Scarlett Was A Huge Mistake
Karrion Kross and Scarlett are free agents.
On August 10, 2025, Kross and his wife Scarlett said their goodbyes to the Stamford-based promotion after their WWE contracts ended at midnight. The promotion quietly moved the two stars to the alumni section. Given Kross’s surge in popularity in the past few months and R-Truth’s shocking departure and return storyline, fans were hopeful The Herald of Doomsday might not be gone from the company.
However, in a recent interview with Aerial Helwani, the ex-WWE star confirmed that his departure is not a work, and he’s actually a free agent now. After leaving WWE, Kross and Scarlett released official statements on their social media handles stating that they are accepting new bookings, further cementing the news of their WWE departure.
In the interview, Kross revealed WWE had offered him a new deal but withheld certain information regarding the contract. He was given only a day to review his new deal, and that too, WWE receded after he requested information on how they reached the valuation. Scarlett, on the other hand, didn’t even receive an offer from the company.
Karrion Kross and Scarlett had gained a lot of traction in the past few months. Fans were crazily rallying behind him ever since the news of his contract expiration hit the internet. Speaking on The Four Horsemen Network, legend Magnum TA expressed disappointment over Karrion Kross’ WWE release. TA claimed that WWE fumbled with Kross by using Scarlett as a side piece when she had the potential of a main character.
They really just did him a total disservice by downplaying her role and what she was able to contribute because you they acted like she was just arm candy and she can work, she can talk, she can, you know, she can do it all there. There’s something some dynamic there, some reason they never let that full package develop the way that it could have. [From 52:20]
Paul Ellering Upset With WWE Over Mishandling of Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s Faction
WWE legend Paul Ellering was upset with how WWE writers handled Karrion Kross’ Final Testament storyline. Speaking in an interview with THE HANNIBAL TV, he acknowledged the strong on-screen chemistry between the recently released star and his wife, praising them as a talented and effective duo.
Ellering felt that the faction storyline (which he was also a part of alongside Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar)) had great potential, but it never received the attention or momentum it deserved. Despite this, he remains confident that both Kross and Scarlett have bright futures ahead in the wrestling world due to their exceptional skills.
