WWE’s Subtle Move Quietly Signals Retirement Of Ex-World Champion

Triple H WWE

WWE has indicated that a former champion is now officially retired as they make a change to their status.

In December 2024, on a night where The New Day were meant to celebrate a decade together, Big E’s part in the group came to a shocking end. Just as it looked like months of teases would come to a head with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston calling it a day, Big E made his way to the ring to play peacemaker.

Trying to resolve tensions in the group, the former WWE Champion offered to become their manager. However, instead of welcoming the move, Woods and Kingston accused the star of turning his back on them and choosing a desk job and his girlfriend over his teammates.

Big E had suffered a serious broken neck during a match in 2022, which has prevented able from returning to the ring. But even that injury held no weight with Kingston and Woods as they claimed Steve Austin and Kurt Angle had come back from similar injuries and asked why he hadn’t returned to the ring, before demanding he admit he never would. Despite the stunning accusations, Big E still tried to hug his former teammates, only for them to refuse. The dejected star then left the ring and walked to the back.

Big E’s Render Changed By WWE

Now it seems WWE might have signalled that Big E’s retirement from the ring is official as they have changed his render on the company’s website from the star in his wrestling gear to him now wearing a suit.

Big E has featured on pre-show panels for WWE premium live events since he was forced to step away from the ring and it seems his future is as a broadcaster in the company.
