WWE’s Stance On Night of Champions Amid Middle East Tensions
Amid the ongoing global tension, WWE’s upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia has become a topic of discussion.
The Stamford-based company has been building Night of Champions for weeks and has announced various fixtures.
Dominik Mysterio will defend his Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles.
Jacob Fatu challenged The Bloodline leader, Solo Sikoa, putting his United States Championship on the line.
Meanwhile, John Cena kicked his final meeting and title defense against CM Punk up a notch by cutting his own pipebomb during the recent SmackDown taping.
Initially, only a handful of talents were scheduled to travel to Riyadh for the June 28 PLE.
However, with WWE scheduling the preceding SmackDown episode in Saudi Arabia as well, the number of wrestlers traveling is confirmed to increase.
WWE Keeping A Close Watch On Middle East Tensions
Currently, WWE has no plans to reschedule or cancel the Night of Champions PLE in Riyadh.
Amidst the ongoing Middle East tensions, Fightful contacted the company representatives for a comment but did not receive a formal response.
Although a representative privately confirmed that they were monitoring the issue closely. The same source also believed the chances of the event facing any hiccups are unlikely.
The production crew is in Riyadh for the meantime, preparing for the premium live event as scheduled.
Any delay or cancellation of Night of Champions can have a significant financial impact on the company. Next year’s Royal Rumble is also set to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.
Keeping the lucrative relationship with the WWE and Saudi Arabia in mind, the company is carefully moving forward with the plans.
