WWE’s Randy Orton Heartbroken By Kevin Owens Injury

Randy Orton

Randy Orton has broken character to explain how he really feels about Kevin Owens’ traumatic neck injury.

On the April 4 edition of SmackDown, Kevin Owens announced that he was being forced to miss WrestleMania and his match with Randy Orton. Not only that, he needed to undergo neck surgery and could be out of the ring for well over a year.

In a subsequent interview, Kevin Owens said he suffered the injury during a regular singles match in January. That means he competed in several high-profile matches, including his violent Unsanctioned Match with Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber with the problem.

That has left Randy Orton without an opponent for WrestleMania and he’s made SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis pay as he demands a match on the grandest stage of them all.

But away from the ring, Orton has admitted how he really feels about his hated rival’s injury.

Randy Orton Gets Real Over Kevin Owens Injury

Speaking to Complex, Randy Orton discussed Owens’ injury and noted that he hates Owens is having to go through neck surgery and the gruelling recovery that entails:

If we’re being real here, my heart breaks for Kevin. I think, first and foremost, I just hate that he’s gotta go through that. Even more than a physical journey he’s gotta go on to let his body heal, it’s a mental journey too. His body’s been through it, and now he’s paying that price, like he said in the ring the other day. We all pay the price at one point or another.

Randy Orton is still listed for a match at WrestleMania despite Owens being out of action. In the most updated report on the full WrestleMania card, a match for Orton is scheduled for night two, but his opponent remains unconfirmed.
