WWE’s Negotiations With Major AEW Star Confirmed

Triple H WWE

One major AEW star has confirmed they have held talks with WWE about joining the sports entertainment giant.

The wrestling business might not have realised just how badly it needed AEW when Tony Khan’s company was founded in 2019. A major number two company in the US caused pay to rise for many talents across the board, with AEW also managing to scoop a bulging roster over the past six years.

Since its formation, AEW has been home to several ex-WWE stars such as Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Adam Copeland, to name but a few, still with Tony Khan. Cody Rhodes shocked everyone when he made the jump from AEW back to WWE in 2022, and since then, he’s been followed by the likes of Jade Cargill, Ricky Saints, Aleister Black, and Rusev.

One star has proven to be this generation’s Jeff Jarrett with Andrade El Idolo leaving WWE and joining AEW, then leaving AEW to rejoin WWE, and once again coming back to AEW after he was fired by WWE.

Darby Allin Held Talks With WWE

Now, speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, former AEW Tag Team Champion Darby Allin revealed the talks he had with WWE about joining them. But don’t worry AEW fans, these talks were a long time ago:

When that was the only game in town essentially, yes [I had talks], because I was a part of their sister company at the time called EVOLVE. Then I saw the writing on the wall…. [My] money is in David and Goliath matches, so when I heard AEW was starting I went, ‘nope, I gotta go.’
