WWE’s Drew McIntyre Makes Shock Indy Return

Ahead of the biggest night of his WWE career, Drew McIntyre returned to his roots with a shock appearance at an indy show in Scotland.

Drew McIntyre will challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland against Damian Priest. McIntyre won and lost the title in the space of five minutes at WrestleMania 40 and now has the chance to reclaim the gold in front of a hugely partisan crowd.

But before that huge night of wrestling in the OVO Hydro, Drew McIntyre chose to return to his roots while in Glasgow as he made a surprise appearance for his former promotion ICW at their After Hours show. ICW Champion Jack Jester introduced a surprise for the crowd before McIntyre made his entrance to a hero’s welcome. After initially looking like he would get into it with Jester in the ring, the two men embraced.

When Was Drew McIntyre In ICW?

Drew McIntyre was originally part of the ICW roster in 2006 and 2007 before he embarked on his journey to superstardom in the US. More famously, McIntyre returned to ICW in 2014 after his release from WWE. His last match in the Glasgow-based promotion was in 2017 before his WWE comeback where he defeated Jack Jester in a Barbed Wire No Ropes match.

McIntyre was also in action at the SmackDown show before Clash at the Castle as he defeated Sheamus in a dark match.

With Scotland’s men’s football team getting off to a disastrous start at Euro 2024, the nation will no doubt be rising behind Drew McIntyre to bring some much-needed success by capturing the World Heavyweight Title.
