Former WWE Writer Thinks UFC Should Have Done Lesnar-Lashley Fight
Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley should have clashed inside the Octagon, according to one former WWE writer.
Freddie Prinze Jr., who had two spells working for WWE between 2008 and 2012, claimed that his former employer Vince McMahon “would have lost his mind” had he seen the pair do battle in UFC.
Speaking on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. was keen to celebrate the pairs in-ring and promo work, but wishes the score had been settled with MMA style rules, instead of the singles battle at Elimination Chamber.
“The stories they’ve told in between with Brock on the mic and Bobby on the mic –- and that’s neither one of their strong suits, although they’ve both gotten better over the years -– I’ve enjoyed and I’ve been wanting to watch,”
Lashley got the win via disqualification when Lesnar went low with a kick during their Elimination Chamber bout. Reports claim Lesnar went off script after the match with an unscripted attack.
Despite seeming to end the feud between former UFC Heavyweight Champion Lesnar and former MMA fighter Lashley, Prinze Jr. feels that UFC should have made an offer that neither Brock Lesnar nor Bobby Lashley could have refused.
“I wonder why UFC could never make that fight. If I’m Dana White, I’m telling Bobby Lashley, here’s $5 million. Then you give Brock $5 million, give him a piece of the pay-per-view and walk home with hundreds of millions of dollars.”
With Bray Wyatt issuing a challenge to former WWE Champion Lashley, setting up a potential WrestleMania match. Whilst WWE’s plans for the Beast’s next opponent will leave fans excited as to what capacity Lesnar will appear in at the Show of Shows.
