Another Huge WWE Star Calls ‘Wrestlepalooza’ Name Ridiculous After CM Punk
After CM Punk, Cody Rhodes also thinks the ‘Wrestlepalooza’ name is ridiculous.
Punk recently had an interview on the Pardon My Take podcast. During a discussion about WWE’s promotional activities related to its new collaboration with ESPN for its Premium Live Events, he admitted that he finds WWE’s inaugural PLE name ridiculous.
“We’re trying to get everybody aware that you gotta get ESPN to see all our PLEs, and I’ve been doing my best to not say the word Wrestlepalooza the entire time,” Punk said. “That might actually be the first time I’ve said it. It’s a ridiculous name.” [H/T WrestlingNews.co]
Apparently, the World Heavyweight Champion Cody Rhodes also shared the same sentiment, as he also finds the name funny and absurd. While talking to Mike Greenberg onESPN’s Get Up, he lightheartedly poked fun at the ‘Wrestlepalooza’ name.
“On man, you gotta say it with the… What a ridiculous name, huh? So people are missing the opportunity, though. You gotta put it like Palooooza, Paloooza, Westlepaloooza. [Emphasis on the word] (From 0:22)
The American Nightmare then talked about his upcoming match against The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the event, which is scheduled to take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Saturday, 20. The match will probably headline the show.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at WWE Wrestlepalooza Will Be the First Match on ESPN
WWE will launch its new five-year media partnership with ESPN on Saturday with Wrestlepalooza’s debut, and to make this event even more special, the company has decided to open the show with The Beast Brock Lesnar and The Never Seen 17 John Cena.
Earlier, it was announced by Raw commentator Joe Tessitore that John Cena versus Brock Lesnar would headline the Wrestlepalooza PLE, but not anymore. Pat McAfee, on his Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, announced that Cena vs. Lesnar will be the first match on the show.
Other matches that will take place at the PLE are a tag match featuring The Usos vs The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), a singles match between IYO SKY and Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant Women’s World Championship, and a mixed-tag team match between CM Punk-AJ Lee, and Seth Rollins-Becky Lynch.
