Leaked WWE WrestleMania Plans Deliberate Attempt To Misinformation

WWE WrestleMania 40 logo over blurred Gunther Seth Rollins

WWE’s WrestleMania plans are getting a little clearer.

On January 24th it was reported that Cody Rhodes wouldn’t be “finishing the story” at WrestleMania along with a whole raft of other changes to the card. This included Rhodes facing CM Punk, The Rock meeting Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins squaring off against Royal Rumble winner Gunther.

However, a different report noted that WWE was upset at the claims, claiming nothing was set in stone.

In a follow-up, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated has clarified his initial report writing that the information he was given “was a deliberate attempt at misinformation, or misinformation that is being spread through WWE itself.”

Barrasso went on to break down plans as he believes they stand with the Royal Rumble set to take place on January 27th. The report stated that enthused speculation and analysis points to Rhodes winning the Rumble and “finishing the story” on the second night of WrestleMania. However, the issue is complicated by a potential appearance by The Rock, who has also been linked with a match against Roman Reigns.

WWE “Befuddled” By Leaks

It’s also been reported by Fightful Select that sources within the company believe the original report detailing WrestleMania plans to be wide of the mark.

With regard to Gunther and the Royal Rumble Fightful stated that WWE sources were “befuddled by the detailed plans involving top angles and specific claimed results.” People within WWE were said to be confused by elements of the original Sports Illustrated story.
