WWE “Would Love To Do More” With Legendary Former Star
A former WWE star could yet return to the company.
After starting her career on the independent scene in 1999, Mickie James made a relatively short stop in TNA before landing in WWE in 2003. Following two years with developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling, James exploded onto the main roster in 2005 as a Trish Stratus superfan.
The feud between the pair is remembered for pushing the boundaries on TV and James played a key role in advocating for women’s wrestling behind the scenes.
Since then, James has enjoyed further spells with TNA and WWE winning championship gold at every turn. However, the star hasn’t wrestled for a major promotion since October 2023, stepping in the ring just three times in 2024.
WWE Open To Working With Mickie James
At Bad Blood, James was shown in the crowd and this sparked speculation she could make a more permanent WWE return, especially with her husband Nick Aldis working on SmackDown.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Aldis was asked about James returning to WWE and he confirmed that the door is very much open.
“No comment,” Aldis said, laughing. “Look, I can’t say too much. … It was very much a sort of like, ‘Hey, we’d love to see you again. We’d love to do more.'”
When it was put to Aldis that James would eventually take a spot in the Hall of Fame, he agreed that it was a matter of when and not if.
“I don’t think that there’s any question that she’s going in. As far as when, I don’t think there needs to be any rush, but at the same time, any time that it would happen would be the right time, at this point.”
Back in April, Mickie James denied she was retired, but explained she was spending more time at home to look after her son after Aldis went on the road with WWE.
Meanwhile, Nick Aldis has repeatedly stated he’d be open to wrestling again, revealing he doesn’t see his current role as SmackDown General Manager as the end of his in-ring career. The British star signed with WWE in August 2023 and initially worked as a producer before taking the GM role that October.
