Triple H discussed WWE Raw’s jump to Netflix.

In January 2025, WWE Raw will begin life on Netflix in a deal said to be worth a staggering $5 billion. The deal marks the first time the sports entertainment giant has partnered with a streaming platform and many observers believe other companies and sports organisations could follow suit.

As Raw moves to Netflix from the USA Network, SmackDown heads to USA on September 13th, 2024, leaving Fox behind. Meanwhile, NXT will premiere on the CW Network on October 1st.

Aside from the changes to its television shows, WWE announced a ground-breaking new deal which will see the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. As part of the announcement, it was revealed the 2025 Royal Rumble will be held at the venue on February 1st.

Triple H Excited For WWE Raw Move To Netflix

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Triple discussed Raw’s move to Netflix and the changes could see on-screen. The WWE boss said the deal was a “game-changing moment” and meant the company would be free from restrictions posed by more traditional broadcasters.

“We spend large chunks of our time, every day, when we’re not thinking about the business at hand now, we’re thinking about those moments. In the fall, as the shows shift around, and then once we get to Netflix. Netflix is a completely different animal. It’s a streaming service. How are commercials going to work? How are breaks going to work? What’s the length of time? What are the restrictions or not restrictions?

Being on Fox, if the crowd chants ‘holy sh*t’ or something worse, they take the audio (out). Sometimes, they take the picture and the audio out and it’s a black screen. The Rock comes in and you can’t tell what The Rock to do. He does what he does. We won’t have those issues with Netflix.

The ability to be live globally and be seen live everywhere is a game-changing moment. In many ways, that’s sort of where the world is heading; streaming services. The NFL is sticking its toe in the water. NBA, every sport.

It’s why this Netflix deal, for us, is so game-changing and everyone is going to be watching us in January, especially other sports, from the business side, they’re going to be watching to see what we do, what we do differently, and how it’s received,”

In May it was confirmed WWE had reached a $25 million extension with USA to keep Raw with the network from the end of its previous deal in October until the move to Netflix in January 2025.
