WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament Starting On Raw
After the previous champions were stripped of the titles, a tournament to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions will begin on Raw.
May 16th 2022 was the last time WWE had functioning Women’s Tag Team Champions as that was the night title-holders Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Raw, turning over their belts to then-Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis in the process.
The pair were publicly shamed by the company for their actions and it was announced that The Boss and The Glow had been stripped of the championship and suspended by the company. It was also announced that a tournament would be held to crown new champions but after nearly three months, nothing new was said until now.
On the 5th of August edition of Friday Night SmackDown it was revealed that the tournament to crown new champions will begin on the 8th of August edition of Raw in Cleveland, Ohio.

WWE revived their Women’s Tag Team Championships in 2019 with Bayley and Sasha Banks becoming the first champions at that year’s Elimination Chamber event. Sasha Banks and Naomi were the tenth different team to hold the championships before their walkout.
Also advertised for the 8th of August edition of Raw is Ciampa challenging Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship.
