First-Ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Revealed (Spoiler)
A new champion will be crowned on WWE Raw.
On the January 13th edition of Monday Night Raw, WWE will crown the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
The new title was created in November with a 12-woman tournament kicking off on December 2nd, but now there are only two competitors left standing. Those two women are Lyra Valyria and Dakota Kai.
Valyria made it to the finals after beating Zelina Vega and Ivy Nile in the opening round before seeing off Iyo Sky in the semi-final. Meanwhile, Kai beat Katana Chance and Shayna Baszler in the first round, and Zoey Stark in her semi-final.
As noted by Dr. Chris Featherstone of SportsKeeda, Valkyria is expected to be crowned the inaugural champion.
Penta To Make WWE Debut On Raw
Elsewhere on Raw, former AEW star Penta will make his WWE debut as Chad Gable’s mystery opponent. The star’s signing has been hyped for several weeks across a series of vignettes with the last of these on January 6th revealing his name.
The match was made after Gable told General Manager Adam Pearce that he wanted to face a Luchador. In response, Pearce said he had the perfect candidate in mind.
WWE is already selling Penta merchandise with t-shirts, hoodies, and masks on sale in anticipation of the star’s debut.
The show will also feature appearances from Gunther, CM Punk, and new Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. In the ring, Finn Balor faces long-time rival Damian Priest in a Street Fight and Sheamus will battle Ludwig Kaiser.
