Why WWE Women Reportedly Feel Evolution 2 Is A “Set Up”

wwe evolution 2

WWE Evolution 2 will take place on July 13.

The all-women’s premium live event debuted in 2018 but was not spoken about until recently, despite its success.

The event saw Nikki Bella unsuccessfully challenge Ronda Rousey for the Women’s Championship in the main event. Some of the other stars were Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Toni Storm.

Since announcing the PLE’s second edition, WWE has been building new rivalries and setting up retired stars’ return for one evening.

The Stamford-based company has announced a few matches, but the reception backstage has not been overwhelmingly positive.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling recently answered a fan’s question about ticket sales and accountability if the event failed to live up to expectations.

To this, he revealed that the female talents were not very thrilled by how it was being planned, as multiple events take place around the same time, including AEW’s All In: Texas on July 12.

So a lot of the women that I was speaking to felt…a lot of them felt like it was set up. One, it was put in against All In weekend, across the street from a Beyoncé concert, during MLB All-Star weekend when a lot of the hotels were going to be bought up in the area. They weren’t necessarily thrilled with that, but it was hastily produced. [01:05:07 onwards]
