WWE & Vince McMahon Hit With Bad News Before SNME
Vince McMahon and WWE were hit with some legal news they might not have liked before the company celebrated the career of John Cena.
John Cena’s legendary career came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he took on Gunther. The Ring General shocked everyone when he made Cena meekishly tap out to his sleeper hold.
The fans in Washington, D.C., made their feelings clear, loudly chanting “You f*cked up” at Triple H when he led the WWE roster to the ring to pay tribute to Cena.
Before the event, there had been plenty of people wondering if disgraced ex-WWE chairman Vince McMahon would be in attendance, given Cena’s loyalty to his former boss.
But before Cena took to the ring, Vince McMahon and WWE received some bad news in an ongoing legal battle.
WWE & Vince McMahon Court Case To Continue
In October 2024, a lawsuit was filed relating to WWE’s ‘ring boys’ scandal of the 1990s. The DiCello Levitt law firm filed the suit on behalf of a group of former “ring boys” hired by then-ringside announcer and ring crew chief Melvin Phillips Jr. to run errands and complete other tasks in preparation for WWE events.
The suit claimed that the boys were then “groomed, exploited, and sexually abused” by Phillips and alleged that McMahon and others were “fully aware” of the abuses.
According to new court documents obtained by Brandon Thurston, the judge in the case has ordered it to continue:
BREAKING: The judge in the ring boy lawsuit orders the case to continue, with some separation on which plaintiffs have claims against whom. WWE, TKO, Vince McMahon, and Linda McMahon remain defendants.
