Ex-WWE Star Claims They Were Victim Of Backstage Conspiracy Before Exit
WWE released Karrion Kross and Scarlett on August 10, 2025, after their contracts expired. Despite WWE reaching out with contract renewal offers, negotiations fell apart due to unclear communication and WWE allegedly undervaluing Kross.
It was very obvious that WWE began burying Karrion Kross creatively months before his release. Despite his growing fan support and noticeable backstage momentum, he was repeatedly pushed down in key storylines, including a significant loss at Night of Champions against Sami Zayn.
This frustrating booking made many question WWE’s creative direction. Many fans and critics alike publicly called out WWE for burying Kross on social media and podcasts. Veterans highlighted how Kross went from a promising top-tier talent to being sidelined with inconsistent booking and limited television opportunities, and claimed his potential was being wasted.
WWE Didn’t Want To Give Scarlett TV Time
Almost two months after their release, Kross’ wife has confessed that WWE was indeed burying them slowly as their contract neared expiration. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast, she revealed WWE conspired against her to keep her off TV on purpose.
Scarlett: You [Karrion] were doing backstages. They had basically taken me off TV for three months. Yeah, essentially. And then something very strange happened on the European tour. Do you remember that?
So there were a few people in the locker room that would always fight for us — AJ Styles was one of them. AJ would always fight for us. Miz would always fight for us — great people. So every single time he had to do a backstage, because I know some people noticed, ‘Why isn’t Scarlett in this?’ Every single week, Kross would ask, ‘Why isn’t Scarlett written into this? She can just be there.’ They said, ‘Oh no, not this week, not this week.’
So a few months went by — AJ is supposed to be in this backstage with us, and he’s like, ‘Doesn’t make sense that you’re not in this.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, that’s what I thought too. But every week they said no.’ AJ went to the office, got approval that I could be in it. Later on, we shot that, and one of the producers comes up to me and says, ‘How did you sneak yourself in there?’
Speaking further, Scarlett admitted feeling left out and thought WWE was trying to get rid of her.
Kross: “I remember that — we were pissed.
Scarlett: I’m like, so this has been something that’s been talked about — to remove me.
Scarlett: I’m like, is this intentional? That was the only time in my WWE career when I was like — I feel like they could be trying to get rid of me and only keep you. It’s the only time I felt that way.
