A WWE veteran will be staying with the company for several more years.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Xavier Woods has signed a new “multi-year” contract with WWE. However, the agreement wasn’t as cut and dried as some fans may have believed.

As noted by Fightful, negotiations went down to the wire, with Woods on the verge of becoming a free agent in September.

After making a name for himself with TNA Wrestling and a brief spell in Japan, Xavier Woods signed with WWE in 2010. The star initially wrestled for Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT before debuting on the main roster in November 2013.

Since then, Woods has established himself as a tag team specialist, breaking several records alongside Kofi Kingston and Big E as part of the New Day. Including NXT, he’s won tag team gold on no less than 13 occasions.

Woods was also crowned King of the Ring in 2021, but has spent much of 2025 continuing to team with long-time partner Kingston.

Different WWE Star Leaves For New Challenge

While Xavier Woods will be staying put, Santos Escobar has officially left WWE after his contract expired. According to several reports, Escobar left the company despite being offered a new deal that would have included a pay rise.

However, he was looking for more concrete assurances over his future creative.

Escobar is the latest WWE star to leave the company in recent weeks after Andrade headed back to AEW, and Jazmyn Nyx also rejected a new contract. In her case, she felt the offer she received was too low.
