WWE Veteran Recalls John Cena Knocking Him Out

John Cena

A veteran WWE performer shared a story about the time when John Cena ran him over during a pivotal moment at ringside.

The heel run of John Cena in 2025 may not be celebrated as a great thing because of how amazing it has been to see him as a babyface again, but we can’t ignore that it happened.

During most of Cena’s PLE matches as a heel, there was interference and chaos in those matches because it was a way for Cena to win in a cheap way to get heat.

At WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia this past June, John Cena defended the WWE Championship against CM Punk for the final time. Seth Rollins and The Vision’s Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed caused chaos during the match.

Seth Rollins was the Money in the Bank holder at the time, so he teased the idea of cashing in his Money in the Bank contract during the Cena-Punk match. When Rollins called for a referee to come down to the ring, legendary WWE referee Charles Robinson ran down to the ring, and Cena ran him over with a huge shoulder tackle!

The Rollins cash-in never happened, but he did hit The Stomp on Punk during the chaos, and Cena covered Punk to retain the WWE Title.

What Did John Cena Tell Charles Robinson Before Taking Big Bump?

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Charles Robinson said John Cena had some advice for him before the spot…and then Cena knocked Charles out of his shoes, so to speak.

“With Cena, when I did it recently, I didn’t run as fast for a reason, he didn’t want me to run past him. So he goes, ‘Just take it easy coming down the ramp.’

I saw the camera guy, so I looked. I wasn’t looking at him, I was looking at the camera guy. And then I kept going straight, and then, boom, knocked me out of my shoes.”
