WWE Unhappy As Hall Of Fame Changes Considered
WWE is considering changes to the Hall of Fame after issues at the 2024 ceremony.
With the ceremony being held in ECW’s home of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it was only natural that Paul Heyman headlined the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024. As expected, the Wise Man delivered a memorable acceptance speech covering his entire career, and thanking the wrestlers he has been associated with as well as praising Triple H’s leadership of the company.
While the speech was well-received, there was a problem with its positioning at the show. Despite Heyman going on first, with several inductees to come after him, many fans began filing out of the venue as soon as he left the stage.
According to WrestleVotes on a Backstage Pass Q&A, the promotion was unhappy with so much of the audience leaving before legends like Bull Nakano, Thunderbolt Patterson, and Muhammad Ali were inducted.
“The only thing I can say is they were not happy with how everything happened last year in Philadelphia…in terms of the size of the crowd that was left even a half hour through.
“Once Paul Heyman was done speaking last year the majority of the crowd left and WWE was not thrilled with that. I talked to a source that said they couldn’t really blame them because the headliner went first. It’s the start of a very long weekend for a lot of people so if you can get out of there at 10:30 you’re going to take that chance.”
Seemingly, the audience’s actions in 2024 will lead to changes for the 2025 ceremony.
“However, WWE was not thrilled with that so I don’t think they want to do that again. So I know they’re trying to come up with different ways to present everything, I just don’t know what that is yet.”
WWE Hall Of Famer Paul Heyman Explains His Booking Mindset
Still a key part of the company a year after entering the Hall of Fame, Paul Heyman has explained how he would book Logan Paul. Heyman says he always books with the final match in mind, and with fans now happy to let storylines play out in the long-term, he would plan for that to happen at WrestleMania 43 in 2027.
