WWE Undecided On Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns Winner
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns will clash in the main event of WrestleMania 39 with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the line but less than two weeks until that match takes place, a new report says WWE doesn’t know who’s walking away from LA as champion.
Cody Rhodes booked his place in the main event of WrestleMania 39 by virtue of his Royal Rumble victory while Roman Reigns has dominated WWE, holding the Universal Championship for well over 900 days.
WrestleVotes has now reported that Reigns could be taking a break from WWE following WrestleMania and might not resurface until SummerSlam:
“I can imagine there’s probably a significant break, at least a month even longer, until there’s a major show that requires Roman Reigns. You may not see him until SummerSlam though. He’ll be away for a little bit.”
That was followed up by the disclaimer that Reigns is only likely to go missing if he loses to Rhodes – something that is not set in stone:
“Adding to this: I’m told this is contingent on if / when Reigns eventually loses the titles. As of now, those plans are not certain.”
While there has been something of a presumption that Cody Rhodes would finish his story and become WWE Champion at WrestleMania, it has been pointed out that the day of the company’s next event in Saudi Arabia would be Reigns’ 1000th as Universal Champion should he still hold the title then.
It is also worth noting that WWE has recently been engaged in an attempt to legalise gambling on its matches in some US states. It is believed that the company would have to lock down match results months in advance with only those at the very top of the company privy to the information.
