WWE Confirms Two Matches For October 24 SmackDown

It will be Tiffy Time on the next episode of WWE SmackDown since the Women’s Champion will be in action.

The WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was interviewed backstage on SmackDown in San Jose when she was asked about losing to Stephanie Vaquer at Crown Jewel in Perth.

Reacting to her loss, Stratton said that she has been undefeated for the past year, so one loss doesn’t define her. Kiana James interrupted the interview to say she still lost. James said that’s why she offered her expertise to Stephanie and not to Tiffany.

James said she only represents top talent like Giulia, the Women’s US Champion. Stratton said that James knows she doesn’t have it. Stratton noted that those who can’t…represent. James said she can get it done in the ring, so Stratton challenged James to a match next week for SmackDown in Tempe, and James accepted.

Also on SmackDown, the tag teams of Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) and #DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano with Candice LeRae exchanged words. After #DIY insulted Axiom’s mask look, Fraxiom challenged #DIY to a match for next week’s SmackDown as well.

New Champion Crowned On WWE SmackDown

The match of the night on WWE SmackDown in San Jose saw Ilja Dragunov join the blue brand after missing over a year of action due to a knee injury. Dragunov beat Sami Zayn in the US Title Open Challenge to win the US Title.

Mark Henry is a WWE Hall of Famer who was thrilled to see Dragunov crowned as the new US Champion.

“I’m so happy that Dragunov was able to get a major title in the WWE. I was not expecting Sami Zayn and Dragunov to be what it was. We hold Sami Zayn as such a high regard. We have the guys where we automatically see their name and we go, ‘Oh well he winning…not tonight. Dragunov did everything that you should aspire to do when you have a championship match. He was able to absorb a real, real strong ass whooping.

This is about the most aggressive I’ve seen Sami Zayn since him and Roman Reigns went at it. They made it memorable. You remember Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. You remember Dragunov and Gunther. I’m gonna remember the night that Dragunov won the title.”
