More Twists & Turns Expected On Road To WWE WrestleMania 41
The road to WrestleMania 41 may have more twists and turns that will shock WWE fans.
At WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto, John Cena shocked the world when he turned heel by aligning with The Rock against the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The turn by Cena took place after he won the Men’s Elimination Chamber to earn a WWE Title match against Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
For Cena, it’s his first time as a heel performer since 2003 and he has become an ally of The Rock, who has taken on the heel persona of “The Final Boss” since WrestleMania 40.
The Men’s Elimination Chamber match also saw Drew McIntyre hit Damian Priest with a Claymore Kick after being eliminated. Also, Seth “Freakin” Rollins hit The Stomp on Punk after Rollins was eliminated. Those actions have led people to think that McIntyre may face Priest at WrestleMania while Rollins could be against Punk (and possibly Roman Reigns) at WrestleManias well.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live revealed that WWE has plans for more twists and turns over the next seven weeks on the road to WrestleMania 41.
“I was told that when the Chamber show was over, there were a bunch of matches that seemed like – ok we know what we got for Mania…”
“I was told that there are more twists and turns coming. If you think you know the Mania card based on what happened at Elimination Chamber, there are going to be some changes.”
“There’s 7 weeks left til Mania so there’s a lot of things they can do.”
What those changes are remains to be seen, but fans should keep watching WWE programming to see what happens.
The Rock Enjoys Creating WWE Content With Triple H And His Team
While speaking at the post-WWE Elimination Chamber press conference, The Rock made it clear that the Cena heel turn was part of a long-term plan. The Rock also talked about working with WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who is a former on-screen rival of Rock when they were active wrestlers in the company.
“It meant something. I’m a long gamer. I like long gaming. I like creating with Paul [Levesque] and Brian Gewirtz and Maya Lasry, who is on my side of the team. I like creating with Paul and his team as well. We’re long gamers.
A lot thought Bad Blood, when I just did a small subtle thing, there was a lot of criticism, ‘Oh, it didn’t mean anything.’ It did. It’s okay. It’s okay if you’re not thinking about it now, but just trust me when I tell you, we are thinking about this stuff and long gaming this.
Same thing when we opened up with Netflix in LA when I came out at the Director of the Board and welcomed everybody and thanked Cody Rhodes for carrying the company. I gave him dap and a big hug.
I knew this night was coming. We are long gaming.”
At the same press conference, Triple H made it clear that WWE has no plans to make all PLE’s two-night events even though the bigger shows like WrestleMania and SummerSlam will be two nights this year.
