WWE Star Trusting Creative Process With Triple H In Charge

Triple H WWE Evolution

A veteran WWE superstar believes in Triple H as the leader of the company’s creative process.

Aleister Black has had a long journey in pro wrestling over the past 20+ years. The 40-year-old from Holland thrived in Europe for many years before signing with WWE in 2016.

At the time of his signing, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was still an active WWE superstar, albeit on a part-time basis, while also building the WWE NXT brand into the hottest show in the company. NXT was filled with young talent, but also veterans who could put on incredible performances every time they got the chance, and Black fit in well.

While in NXT, Black became an NXT Champion and main eventer during his three years on the brand. Black went on to the main roster in early 2019 and was out of WWE by June 2021 because former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and his creative team just didn’t use him right.

Following an AEW run from the summer of 2021 until early 2025 as Malakai Black, that saw him compete in far too many tag team matches, Aleister Black returned to WWE on the first SmackDown after WrestleMania in 2025. Black has main evented multiple SmackDown episodes and also been paired with his wife Zelina, who he’s been married to since 2018.

Triple H is back in control of Black’s WWE career since he’s the company’s Chief Content Officer. While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Black spoke about what it’s like to work with Triple H.

“Hunter and I have always had a good working relationship. NXT Aleister Black was a cooperation between him and me, where I would pitch an idea and he would kind of flesh it out better. Right now, that is just happening on a grand scale, and it’s been very rewarding.”

Triple H Has Aleister Black’s Trust

Aleister Black had previously stated that Triple H didn’t like the idea of Black being with Zelina in WWE storylines, but the boss eventually warmed to it.

“Sometimes he’ll have something in his head, and as with everything I’ve done with him, you have to trust the process. Just because you’re not immediately there at the end of the road doesn’t mean that the road we’re taken is the wrong one.

We’re gonna get there and that’s something that I had to learn back in the day. Now that I’m back, it’s just getting back on that bicycle and trusting the process along the way.”

Clearly, Triple H sees Aleister Black as a big star because the Dutchman faced Cody Rhodes in the main event of WWE SmackDown in Greenville. While it was not for Cody’s WWE Title, it was a competitive match without a finish because Drew McIntyre hit a Claymore Kick on the referee.

After the match, McIntyre and Black attacked Rhodes, so Black’s main SmackDown rival, Damian Priest, showed up to even the odds. The issues between Black and Priest are far from over.
