A CM Punk appearance at Survivor Series remains unlikely.

The constant rumours around CM Punk refuse to go away, and with Survivor Series taking place just outside of Chicago, they’ve only intensified. Punk is currently the most high-profile free agent in the world following his firing by AEW.

Ever since his AEW exit, Punk has been linked with a return to the company he left in acrimonious circumstances almost a decade ago.

A little over 24 hours before Survivor Series, Dave Meltzer offered the latest on the situation in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer explained there’s no evidence to suggest Punk will appear at the event, but it remains impossible to rule out his involvement is an incredibly well-guarded secret.

“Of course the biggest question regarding the show probably involves C.M. Punk. If WWE was to bring in Punk, this night or Smackdown the night before would be the place to debut him. We’ve seen no evidence this is happening and those close to the situation have denied it, but it is possible it’s a well-kept secret.”

Randy Orton Used To Combat CM Punk Rumours

On the November 20th episode of Raw, it was announced that Randy Orton will be competing at Survivor Series. The Viper has been out of action for the best part of 18 months following back surgery.

While some fans questioned why WWE would advertise Orton’s return it seems that the company had a very good reason for doing so. It’s been reported that WWE named Orton in a bid to stop fans expecting CM Punk to show up.

Dave Meltzer reiterated this in the Observer, citing WWE’s attempts to actively discourage expectations about a return for the divisive star.
