WWE To Scrap Long-Running Tradition

WWE John Cena

WWE is continuing its journey into a bold new world.

On September 10, it was confirmed that WrestleMania will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027. The news comes after it was previously announced that the Royal Rumble would be held in the kingdom in 2026.

With regard to WrestleMania, 2027 will be the first time WWE’s flagship event will be held outside of North America.

The company will also be making some changes later in 2025, with a long-running event on the move.

As reported via Wrestle Votes Radio, WWE won’t be heading to Madison Square Garden on December 26; instead, it will land in Baltimore, Maryland. This will mark the first time the special live event hasn’t been held in New York since 2009.

“We are told WWE will not be hosting its annual post-Christmas live event at Madison Square Garden this year. The tradition that dates back to 2009 has seen WWE run an untelevised house show at Madison Square Garden every December 26,” the report stated. “Instead, this year, WWE has a live event booked in Baltimore, Maryland.”

John Cena Will Make One More WWE Appearance In New York

While the traditional holiday show might be gone from the schedule, the company will be returning to ‘The Garden’ on November 17 for Monday Night Raw. The taping is being promoted as John Cena’s final appearance at the iconic venue.

Tickets for the show have already gone on sale with VIP packages priced at over $2,900 and ringside seats available for over $800.

John Cena will officially retire on December 13 on a special edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. The news came as a surprise to many, as Cena had been expected to say his WWE goodbye in Boston.
