WWE To Release Surprising New Documentary
WWE has an interesting new documentary on the way.
On April 19 and 20, WrestleMania 41 will come live from Allegiant Stadium, in Paradise, Nevada. While the ‘Road to WrestleMania’ has been met with a mixed reception from fans, excitement and expectation around the event remains high.
For their part, WWE will be hoping the spectacular is better received than the first time WrestleMania landed in Nevada in 1993.
On that occasion, famously, or perhaps infamously, the event was held outdoors at Caesar’s Palace with the set designed to look like the Roman coliseum. It was even dubbed “The World’s Largest Toga Party.”
Aside from the sight of Jim Ross in a toga, the event is best remembered for a series of lackluster matches, and Hulk Hogan winning the World Championship despite not being in the original match.
In the main event, Bret Hart was defeated by Yokozuna after Mr. Fuji threw salt in the Hitman’s eyes. As Yokozuna celebrated with the gold, Hogan came to the ring and challenged him to a match on the spot. He promptly beat Yokozuna to claim the title in a little over 20 seconds.
The moment capped off an event full of underwhelming moments, including a snail-paced brawl between The Undertaker and Giant Gonzalez.
WWE Producing WrestleMania IX Documentary
According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, WWE is producing a documentary on the event that will be broadcast on Peacock in the coming weeks.
“According to sources, a very interesting documentary is coming to Peacock within the next few weeks, which will see the story of WrestleMania 9 unfold as that event will be detailed in a new release titled Becoming A Spectacle.
WrestleMania 9 took place at Caesar’s Palace in April of 1993, which, of course, is mainly remembered as the night Hulk Hogan walked away as WWF Champion after Yokozuna had defeated Brett “Hitman” Hart just minutes earlier.
Among the superstars featured on that card that should see participation in this peacock documentary include Shawn Michaels, the Steiner brothers, Lex Luger, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and Bret Hart.”
During the same podcast, it was reported that WWE is planning to bring back the all-female Evolution Premium Live Event in July. To date, the only event run under that banner was held in 2018.
