WWE To Pursue “Several” AEW Stars
The wrestling landscape could be very different going into 2024 with several AEW contracts said to be up by the end of 2023 and WWE looks set to go after those stars.
MJF has long touted that he will be the subject of the bidding war of 2024 when his contract with AEW supposedly expires and he is open to the highest bidder including WWE.
The Young Bucks are also believed to be in negotiations with AEW with reports suggesting their contracts will be up by the end of the year as well.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that with “several” AEW stars going to be out of contract by the end of the year, it looks likely that WWE will be making plays for many of them:
“There are AEW contracts that are coming due at the end of the year. Several of them. Many of them, and WWE obviously will be pursuing all of them, or all the ones that are key ones that they could get.”
The timing of that could be interesting as WWE is currently going through an unofficial hiring freeze while the acquisition of the company by Endeavor is finalized.
Will Ospreay has revealed that their contract with NJPW ends in the first half of 2024 and both Tony Khan and Triple H are sure to be interested in the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
