WWE & TNA Working To Keep AEW Off TV

Triple H WWE

WWE and TNA are in partnership with talent trading places but it seems there could be another reason involving AEW for the deal.

WWE and TNA have announced a multi-year partnership that will see the two promotions continue to work together as they have done throughout 2024. Talents such as Jordynne Grace, Joe Hendry, and The Rascalz have all appeared on NXT in that time with several NXT stars such as Cora Jade and Tatum Paxley making their presence felt in TNA. However, it now looks like Jordynne Grace is making a permanent move to WWE.

It seems there could be another reason WWE is keen to work with the promotion as their programming is set to go to Netflix all around the world. That will leave a gap on the stations that previously held the rights to WWE shows and it seems they don’t want AEW to fill those empty schedules.

WWE Wants TNA As Global Replacement

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why it seems WWE is grooming TNA to fill TV rights around the world when their move to Netflix is complete in international markets:

Multiple people have confirmed to me that there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to be part of this deal but the key stuff is they want to get [TNA] on those television outlets that [WWE] are leaving, India being the big one so AEW doesn’t get those television outlets that they’re leaving because they’re on Netflix.

So because all of their shows are on Netflix internationally they can’t put anything on those stations so they want to make sure it’s not AEW on those stations. That’s one of the many reasons that they’re doing this. I know many people close to the situation that think it’s going to end up with WWE owning them, others think it’s going to be a disaster because it always is at the end. Every company WWE works with always ends up worse off. I can’t see these guys ending up worse.
