WWE Title Pitch Rejected By Current AEW Star

Triple H WWE

One member of the AEW roster recently turned down the chance to compete in a WWE ring for the very first time.

On the April 2 edition of Dynamite, AEW announced the brackets for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, with several huge matches made. Jay White had to be pulled from the tournament and was replaced by Kevin Knight. Knight was beaten by Will Ospreay, with Ospreay going on to face Takeshita in the semi-final.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Briscoe, with Fletcher meeting the winner of the last quarter-final between Hangman Adam Page and a wild card. On AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru, Page found out his opponent as a weapon walked into AEW.

Former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander was Page’s surprise opponent, and after a hard-fought match, it was the Hangman who picked up the win. After a word in his ear from Don Callis, Josh Alexander joined his Family and helped Kyle Fletcher take out Page.

Given the fact that Alexander had recently been part of TNA, who have their own partnership with WWE, he has now revealed that he had the chance to work for the sports entertainment giant but turned that offer down.

Josh Alexander Didn’t Want WWE Title Shot

Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri, Alexander revealed that TNA management denied one WWE pitch for him, but he turned down the offer to have a run that would end with him challenging for the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver:

There were rumblings of two that I’d heard about after the fact that were denied by management for whatever political reason there was, them not wanting me to lose, or something like that.

Then there was one offer on the table for me to do a big run, and then wrestle for the title on a pay-per-view or a Stand & Deliver, I think it was. I had actually turned that down because it just didn’t fit with what my goals were coming into contract time and stuff like that. With negotiations coming up.
