WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Massive Gambling Loss With The Undertaker
A close friend of The Undertaker shared an interesting story about a time when they lost a lot of money gambling.
Over the course of 30 years as The Undertaker in WWE, Mark Calaway had a few guys who were known as his closest friends.
One of those close friends was The Godfather, who started with Taker before they were in WWE, and they spent many years together in the company. The Godfather also portrayed other characters, such as Papa Shango and Kama.
Since retiring as a WWE superstar, The Undertaker has become a podcaster and done many interviews talking about his life on the road, which oftentimes led to drinking with the boys.
In an interview with Esportsbets.com, The Godfather spoke about what life was like on the road with The Undertaker and how they spent a lot of time in strip clubs.
“80% of the time ‘Taker and I would probably be at a strip club. We’d have our own section. We would have a good time, we would spend a lot of money. The bar would close, everybody would leave, and they’d usually let us stay in there and hang out a little bit longer, and get a little bit more private.
We spent a lot of time in strip clubs. It was a different time back then. There was no social media, no laptops, no cell phones, they just came out with beepers.
The whole card would go to strip clubs every night, and you would go there not only because of the girls, but because most of the guys were there to see the girls, not to see you so it was a good place to hang out and not get harassed, to be able to be yourself. We did that 80, 85% of the time.”
The Undertaker And The Godfather Had A Rough Time Gambling
As he continued, The Godfather spoke about how casinos usually weren’t the preferred hangout for The Deadman and himself, but one time they went into one and ended up losing a whopping $50,000 each. Rough night!
“Casinos weren’t my thing, but one night it was my thing, and I think we both pulled out like 50Gs or something, and lost all that money.
By the time we sobered up the next day, he’s like, did you see your American Express bill? And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I did, man.’ That was the one and only time I did something stupid like that. We were betting a thousand, two, five thousand dollars, $10,000 hands and shit.”
The good thing for both The Undertaker and The Godfather is that they made a good living as WWE superstars for a long time, so at least they could handle a loss like that.
