What WWE Really Did For The Rock’s Hollywood Career Revealed

The Rock Dwayne Johnson Awards

The Rock transitioned from full-time professional wrestling to Hollywood acting around 2004 after achieving massive success in the ring during the Attitude Era.

He maintains ties to WWE through part-time appearances and a board position with TKO Group Holdings.

That said, speaking in a new interview with the THR Actor Roundtable, The Rock revealed how WWE helped build his career in Hollywood.

The Brahma Bull credited his big screen success to WWE, stating that his wrestling gig helped him shape his skills and personality for theater.

“I think performatively, yes. In wrestling, it’s very big and over the top as you’re performing for everybody for a stadium. But I think probably one of the main takeaways from wrestling was it really forced me live, and you guys know this in theater.”

“It’s like it forces you, it’s almost like a forcing mechanism to listen. To really make sure that you’re really honing in on that skill set of just really listening to the audience and keeping you on your toes.”

During the same interview, The Rock also revealed why he made the big jump from WWE to Hollywood.

He said destiny played a big part, but his desire to challenge himself was the main driving force behind him ending up in Hollywood.

The Rock Might Return For A Match At WWE WrestleMania 42

2025 was a highly successful year for The Rock, marked by significant achievements in his business ventures and critical success in his acting career.

But the same cannot be said of his WWE involvement.

His last appearance came at Elimination Chamber in 2025, where the WWE Universe saw John Cena sell his soul to him.

He was scheduled to play a key part in Cena’s heel turn storyline and WrestleMania 41, but he had a fallout with Triple H over creative decisions.

There is no news on when he’ll make his return to WWE.

But veteran Konnan believes he might return for a match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas to face his cousin Roman Reigns. The dream match was previously teased for WrestleMania 40.
