WWE Announces Tag Team Championship Unification Match for WrestleMania Backlash
The WWE Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Titles will be on the line for a Winner Take All Championship Unification match at WrestleMania Backlash.
This week’s episode of Smackdown saw the Raw Tag Team Champions Randy Orton & Riddle (aka RK-Bro) make their way down to the ring to address The Usos coming to Raw this past Monday. During that appearance by The Usos on Raw, they made it clear that they wanted the Raw Tag Team Titles. After The Usos beat The Street Profits in a competitive tag team match on Raw, it appeared as though The Usos earned that title opportunity.
The Usos welcomed RK-Bro to Smackdown by reminding the Raw Tag Team Champions just exactly who The Usos are. That fired up former 14-time WWE World Champion Randy Orton, who reminded The Usos that he had been making history in WWE for the past 20 years. Both sets of champions made it clear they wanted a unification, but it wasn’t official yet. At the end of the promo exchange, The Usos did a cheap attack on Riddle setting up a main event match with Riddle facing Jimmy Uso in singles action.
During the Smackdown broadcast, WWE made the announcement that RK-Bro and The Usos will each put up their titles at WrestleMania Backlash on May 7th in a Winner Take All Championship Unification Match.

The main event of Smackdown saw Riddle face Jimmy Uso in a singles match. Towards the finish of the match, Jimmy kicked Randy Orton while he was out of the ring. Jey went after Randy as well, but poor Jey ended up getting slammed onto the commentary table. Riddle avoided a top rope attack from Jimmy, which led to Riddle hitting an incredible RKO counter out of nowhere and Riddle pinned Jimmy to win the match.
This won’t be the first time that RK-Bro faces The Usos. There was no winner when RK-Bro faced The Usos on the March 28 edition of Raw. When they wrestled at Survivor Series 2021, RK-Bro got the win in that match. This time, both sets of Tag Team Titles are on the line.
The next WWE Premium Live Event is called WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday, May 8th. Here’s what we know so far:
