WWE Tag Team Title Match Set For SummerSlam: The New Day vs. Gallows & Anderson
WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day, will be defending their title against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. This was officially announced by WWE.com this morning (August 8).
Gallows and Anderson attacked The New Day from behind two weeks ago on Raw during The New Day’s celebration of their record breaking WWE Tag Team Title reign. Gallows and Anderson had a match against The New Day the following week on Raw, which ended in two minutes with Big E rolling up Anderson for the pin while Anderson was distracted doing the “too sweet” hand sign to Gallows. After their loss, Gallows and Anderson attacked The New Day.
During the post-match attack, WWE announced that Big E suffered an injury that will likely keep him out of action past SummerSlam. As WWE.com describes, “Intent on avenging their injured partner Big E, The New Day’s Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods have agreed to defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson at SummerSlam”.
Mark’s reaction: Since Big E will not be wrestling in this Tag Team Title match at SummerSlam, I can see The New Day finally dropping the belts to Gallows and Anderson; especially now that The New Day officially holds the record of being the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time (this does not include the World Tag Team Titles that Demolition held for longer). Putting the championships on Gallows and Anderson could really help solidify them as a serious threat in WWE.
