WWE Tag Team Title Match Made For The Royal Rumble

The WWE Tag Team Championship will be on the line at the Royal Rumble as two teams are set to go two out of three falls.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa captured the WWE Tag Team Championship in early December 2024. DIY defeated The Motor City Machine Guns for the gold when Gargano turned on Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, using a low blow to get the upper hand and ultimately the victory.

The January 24 edition of SmackDown saw The Motor City Machine Guns defeat Pretty Deadly in tag team action. Later in the evening, Sabin and Shelley ensured that Apollo Crews picked up a surprise win over Johnny Gargano.

That led to a confrontation between both teams with MCMG telling the champions that General Manager Nick Aldis had confirmed that they would clash for the WWE Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble in a two out of three falls match.

The confirmed card for the WWE Royal Rumble on February 1 is:

  • Men’s Royal Rumble – John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Rey Mysterio, LA Knight, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Women’s Royal Rumble – Nia Jax, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan
  • Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship
  • DIY (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns – Two Out of Three Falls for the WWE Tag Team Championship
