WWE Tag Team Stealing An Act From AEW Duo?
Could it be more than a coincidence that there’s been a recent specific similarity between AEW and WWE?
In recent months, Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY’s friendship caused them their fair share of problems on WWE Raw. Asuka grew increasingly jealous of SKY’s relationship with Ripley, causing her to turn on SKY, forcing Kairi Sane to do the same. That led to Ripley and SKY winning a huge tag team match at Crown Jewel, but things are far from over. Both RHIYO and the Kabuki Warriors will be on opposing sides in WarGames at Survivor Series.
Over in AEW, a tournament is taking place to crown the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship. Long-time friends Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa have banded together to win the gold after both women lost their respective singles titles. Their friendship took priority in Blood & Guts as Storm surrendered the match after being forced to watch Shirakawa be assaulted repeatedly with a title belt.
So is the fact that both companies are currently showcasing teams featuring an Australian star and a Japanese star really a coincidence?
No Coincidence Over Timing Of WWE & AEW Teams
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez indicated that there could be a nefarious reason for a tag team coincidence
If you hadn’t noticed by the way but on AEW and on WWE, we have a top women’s tag team that consists of an Australian and a Japanese woman. I don’t wanna say it’s not a coincidence but you can see that Rhea and IYO, I don’t know if I want to say “stealing an act” but it’s no secret that these two things are happening on the two shows at the same time.
