Huge WWE Tag Team Reunion Off As Rey Mysterio Steps In

Fans hoping to see a popular tag team finally reunite will have to wait as WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has replaced one star.

Former AEW Tag Team Champions Penta and Rey Fenix now call WWE their wrestling home. A protracted exit from AEW with allegations of contract tampering led to them leaving Tony Khan’s company at different times, with Penta beating his younger brother to join WWE by several months.

With Penta on Raw and Fenix on SmackDown, the stars have yet to reunite in WWE. But they were set to do so as part of a huge match at AAA Guerra de Titanes on December 20th. That would have seen the Lucha Bros clash with AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano.

But that match now isn’t happening.

Rey Mysterio Replaces Top WWE Star

Penta has now revealed on social media that he is out of the match, and Rey Mysterio will be teaming with Rey Fenix to face Dominik and El Grande Americano in Guadalajara.

Penta’s match with Solo Sikoa on the November 24th edition of Raw came to an abrupt end when the Mexican star apparently suffered an injury. The referee called a halt to the bout, with Penta being helped to the back.

Somewhat ironically, it was Rey Fenix who filled in for an injured Rey Mysterio to take on the original El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41.
