WWE Suspends Sasha Banks And Naomi “Indefinitely”
WWE has announced that Sasha Banks and Naomi have been indefinitely suspended after they walked out of the May 16th episode of Raw.
On WWE SmackDown, Michael Cole announced the news that the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely.
The announcer claimed that the duo had “let us all down” when they handed their championships to Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. Cole explained that the pair had walked out ahead of appearing in their scheduled match.
It was also announced that WWE will now hold a tournament to crown new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Earlier in the day, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that the two women weren’t at the May 20th SmackDown taping.
On the May 16th edition of Raw, Sasha Banks and Naomi had been due to be part fo the Six-Pack Challenge main event to determine the new number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship. However, after reportedly being unhappy with creative, the two walked out of the arena causing plans to change significantly for the show.
While Raw was on air, WWE released a statement claiming that the two were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents, and felt their Women’s Tag Team Titles were being disrespected. Meanwhile, Corey Graves accused the pair of being “unprofessional” on commentary.
Despite WWE’s statement, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer speculated that the dispute could be more to do with contracts than anything else.
