WWE SummerSlam Title Match Hanging In The Balance

One WWE SummerSlam title match is hanging in the balance, with one star to undergo a medical evaluation.

On the June 23 edition of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that a planned match between Dominik Mysterio and AJ Styles was now off. The pair had been due to meet for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions, but the match was cancelled.

Later in the show, Mysterio told fans that his ribs aren’t 100%. One report suggested Mysterio had suffered a real injury; however, it now seems to have been wrapped up in storyline as Mysterio continues to avoid having to get in the ring with AJ Styles.

But now the ruse might be up.

Dominik Mysterio Might Be Forced Into WWE SummerSlam Title Match

On the July 14th edition of Raw, Dominik Mysterio was urged by Finn Balor to accompany Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez to the ring for their tag team match against Asuka and Kairi Sane. Mysterio couldn’t help but get involved as he got up on the apron, only to be knocked down by Asuka. However, the distraction allowed the Judgment Day to pick up the win.

Later in the night, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce caught up with Judgment Day and noted he wasn’t convinced by Mysterio’s injury after his involvement in the match. Pearce then told the WWE Intercontinental Champion that next week he’d be reevaluated by WWE’s medical team, and if cleared, then he’ll be putting his title on the line at SummerSlam against AJ Styles.
