WWE Discussing Unique Stipulation For Next Cody Rhodes-Brock Lesnar Match

There is another big Cody Rhodes-Brock Lesnar match coming and WWE is discussing a unique stipulation for when they meet again.

One of the biggest rivalries in WWE post-WrestleMania has been between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. It started when Lesnar attacked Cody on Raw after WrestleMania when it looked like they would be in a tag team match together.

At Backlash in Puerto Rico, Cody Rhodes countered a Kimura Lock submission attempt by pushing forward and pinning Lesnar’s shoulders to the mat for the three count.

Three weeks later at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, Lesnar dominated Rhodes due to Cody going into the match with a “broken” left arm that Lesnar attacked on Raw before the match. Cody wrestled the match with a cast/brace on his left arm, Lesnar targeted the arm throughout the match and Cody passed out in the Kimura Lock hold.

That means the Cody Rhodes-Brock Lesnar is tied at one win apiece, so as we have seen many times in pro wrestling, that means there’s a third match coming to see who “wins” the feud. We learned earlier in the week that WWE is definitely planning to have the next match at SummerSlam on August 5th at Ford Field in Detroit.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update on a unique stipulation being discussed for the match.

“Lesnar vs. Rhodes III will be one of the SummerSlam main events. There has been a lot of talk about adding a stipulation and one of the ideas is a bullrope match. That is not official, and there are multiple other ideas for that match on the table, and no final decision has been made.”

A bullrope match is rare in WWE, but it is also the kind of match that Cody’s legendary father Dusty Rhodes made famous during his wrestling career.
