WWE Legend Steve Austin Leaves WrestleMania Door Wide Open

Steve Austin

Steve Austin admits anything could happen.

Following WrestleMania 40, it was reported that The Undertaker’s run-in during the main event to help Cody Rhodes was originally planned for Steve Austin. This would have seen Austin come face-to-face with legendary rival The Rock one more time.

In an interview several months after the fact, Steve Austin admitted he held talks with WWE, but they couldn’t make a deal. However, he noted that he could appear at WrestleMania 41, given it’ll be held relatively close to where he lives.

Since then, speculation about a potential appearance by Austin at WrestleMania has been running wild. Something that only increased when John Cena turned heel at Elimination Chamber to join The Rock while turning his back on Cody Rhodes.

Steve Austin Hasn’t Spoken With WWE

In the eyes of many, this leaves Rhodes needing backup in his fight against the Hollywood stars, so who better to step up than Austin?

During an interview with The Schmo ahead of the 2025 Mint 400, Austin said he hasn’t been in contact with WWE but conceded anything could happen. Despite this, he tried to distance himself from the speculation, adding that he’s not thinking about WrestleMania.

Hey, I haven’t been in contact with anybody, so I guess anything could happen. But I’m here to run the Mint 400 and that’s what my sights are set on. I’m not looking to Mania. I’m looking to the Mint 400. I got a brand new left knee, trying here to this my first race back. So I’m gonna go out there and kick ass and see if I can do as well as I can.”

Steve Austin is currently recovering from knee replacement surgery after undergoing the procedure to fix his long-standing issues.
