WWE Stars Upset At Drew McIntyre’s Social Media Antics

At times, Drew McIntyre’s social media taunts have worked a little too well.

In recent years Drew McIntyre has turned insulting his rivals on social media into an art form. When McIntyre decides to air his frustration no one is safe, with his rivalry with CM Punk proving there’s no such thing as “too far” when it comes to winding up your opponents.

While Punk and McIntyre traded shots in the ring, McIntyre repeatedly went after the former AEW star in interviews and online in an effort to get inside his head. Those barbs also played a major role in keeping fans invested in their story, even when Punk was injured through the first part of 2024.

However, while Punk absorbed the verbal assault and more often than not fired back, not everyone was so happy to play the game.

During an interview with the Daily Mail, McIntyre credited Punk with taking the social media insults on the chin while hitting back with his own. Interestingly, McIntyre referenced other WWE stars who have gotten a “boo boo face” over things he’s posted online.

“I will say, however my feelings are towards him, I went completely gangbusters for him. I didn’t hold back. On TV, I can only go so far, but, on social, but it’s my social. You can’t tell me what to do. I went overboard. And the company could have asked me to pull back if they wanted me to, and I’d have said, ‘No, it’s my social.’

But I went at him and went at him. And I’ve done that with a couple of people, and they have got a boo boo face. Not that I care, but he didn’t. He ate it like a man, and then came back with what he had to say. So I’ll give him that.”

During the same conversation, Drew McIntyre said that he and CM Punk made magic in the ring, thanks to their very real dislike for each other outside of it.

Punk and McIntyre will get to renew hostilities in the 2025 edition of the Royal Rumble after both men declared themselves for the men’s Rumble match on February 1st.
