Why WWE Stars Thought Triple H Would Survive Split With Stephanie McMahon
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s romance is a storied one.
But WWE fans also know that their relationship was hugely controversial.
While Triple H was a budding talent in the late 90s, Stephanie mainly worked behind the scenes before making her debut in 1999.
The pair was gradually included in a storyline leading to a kayfabe marriage in 2000. However, they developed real-life feelings while The Game was still dating Chyna.
Their relationship, though, continued, and they married in 2003.
Ever since, they have had a strong marriage.
Career-wise, Triple H is the current Chief Content Officer of WWE, whereas Stephanie has her own shows after resigning from the company in 2023.
Triple H Would Have Survived Had He & Stephanie Split
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s romance had caused quite a stir backstage.
Upon learning about the affair, Chyna confronted Vince McMahon about the situation, but received little support. She left the company in November 2001.
Jonathan Coachman, who was a WWE employee at the time, claimed that superstars would discuss the relationship backstage.
The topic emerged during the recent episode of Coach and Bro with him and Vince Russo.
Russo presented a conspiracy theory in which a talent romanticizes an individual in a higher position within the company, saying which female talent will set her sights on AEW boss Tony Khan.
Amidst the discussion, Coachman shared the one reason why Triple H would have survived if he had broken up with Stephanie.
I will tell you this that we used to, backstage, when that whole thing was going down because really thing about it; you can do one of two things—either you’re gonna be rich beyond your wildest imagination or you’re gonna be looking for another job.
And I remember we used to talk about saying there’s one person who could survive a breakup in that scenario and that was Triple H. Because he was so dialed into the business. I mean, it took a lot of guts. But now, they’re a power couple. [55:54 onwards]
Triple H and Stephanie have three children, all daughters.
