WWE Stars Frustrated By Growing Losing Streak

Triple H WWE announce desk

Two WWE SmackDown stars are ready to turn things around.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley exploded onto the WWE scene in October 2024, and just three weeks after debuting, they won the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Although they lost the titles before the end of the year, they’ve remained a key part of SmackDown’s tag team division. However, the gold has continued to elude them, and they’re currently trapped in something of a downward spiral.

Motor City Machine Guns’ most recent attempt at the gold came at SummerSlam, where they missed out in a wild TLC Match. That loss was followed by two more on SmackDown, meaning that the former champions have now lost seven times in a row, including to Carmelo Hayes and Miz on August 22.

In a new video posted on social media, the pair addressed their unfortunate losing streak. Shelley began by admitting that the pair are growing increasingly frustrated with their situation.

“Yeah, so we wrestled Carmelo Hayes and The Miz, and we came up short. That’s been happening kind of a lot lately. I don’t want to say it’s not frustrating, it’s very frustrating, but at the same time, it’s not like we’ve never lost.

It’s not like we’ve never lost multiple matches. I mean, that’s kind of what we hang our hats on, is losing and then getting up and learning and getting better and ultimately succeeding because we’re not gonna lose forever.”

Motor City Machine Guns Determined To Bounce Back On WWE SmackDown

Chris Sabin added that while the losses are mounting up, there’s no better team in the world than them when it comes to bouncing back from adversity.

“Is there another tag team out there that is as battle-ready as us? I’m not sure there is. We’ve been tagging for over 20 years, I’m lost for words thinking about another tag team who is as battle-ready as we are. I don’t know what’s next.”

Despite this, Shelley conceded that the pair has now fallen to the bottom of the tag team division. He went on to say that, despite their recent struggles, with their track record, it’s impossible for them not to be a threat.

“Oh yeah, that’s true. We have so much documented proof that we’re the goats of tag team wrestling. So yeah, we’re going to lose some matches once in a while.

You can’t take away our accomplishments, though. We showed up to WWE and in three weeks, we were tag team champions. Just because we don’t have the belts now doesn’t mean we’re not a threat.”

While the Motor City Machine Guns look set to miss out, it’s been announced that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will defend the titles against Piper Niven and Alba Fyre on the August 29 edition of SmackDown in Lyon, France. On the same show, Solo Sikoa will defend the United States Championship against Sami Zayn.
