A current WWE Superstar’s father has confirmed the end of his son’s in-ring career.

John Cena debuted on the WWE main roster 13 years ago. He has since had a legendary career in the Stamford-based company, becoming a 17-time world champion.

The Leader of the Cenation announced last year that he would have a year-long retirement tour in 2025. The 48-year-old is now set to bid farewell to the WWE Universe tonight at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he goes one-on-one with Gunther in his final match.

Although Cena has made it clear he would never return to the squared circle after tonight, several wrestling fans and experts remain skeptical about the finality of his retirement.

John Cena’s Father Confirms Son Will Never Wrestle Again After WWE Retirement

In a recent interview with Chris Sanders on the Best for Business podcast, John Cena Sr. discussed his son’s retirement from in-ring competition.

Cena’s father disclosed that he believes The Never Seen 17 will continue to help in WWE. However, Cena Sr. confirmed that fans will never see his son in the squared circle again after tonight’s match against Gunther.

I’ve experienced a young man start from the beginning, from the very, very bottom. And if anybody doesn’t believe hustle, loyalty, and respect, if he hasn’t proven to you as an individual that you yourself, hustling and believing in yourself, being loyal to yourself and those around you, and giving respect to those close to you and around you and yourself, you can accomplish anything.

I’ve seen him be at his high, I’ve seen him be at his low. You know, they were gonna let him go. So, it’s like, holy mackerel, he’s back. I just take a look at this and say I am so proud of my son for what he’s accomplished in the business, and what he’s accomplished with Make-A-Wish… It wasn’t all about ‘Hey, look at me, I’m the champ.’ He never forgot where he came from, and he never forgot who he was, and that’s important. He was always there to help, and he’s still there to help. I think he’ll always be there to help, but do I ever think you’ll see John Cena in the ring again ever? Never.
