WWE Stars Confused By The Rock’s Recent Conduct
Many in WWE are questioning The Rock.
Despite standing front and centre as John Cena turned heel and attacked Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber, The Rock hasn’t appeared on television since. In fact, he’s barely been mentioned, and WrestleMania 41 came and went without him.
In an interview with Pat McAfee after the event, The Rock claimed John Cena’s story didn’t need him, while also revealing he was asked to appear at Elimination Chamber to boost ticket sales.
He then responded to comments made by radio host Dave LaGreca, telling him to stop ranting and enjoy the show, claiming everything he says is a “work.”
These comments and his absence from WrestleMania have left fans more confused than excited for his next appearance, and it seems they aren’t alone.
The Rock’s Actions Have Left WWE Stars Confused
A new report from Fightful Select has now given an insight into how Rock’s comments and reaction to Dave LaGreca were seen within WWE.
According to the report, it didn’t go unnoticed by a number of talents that The Rock wasn’t at TV, on TV, at WrestleMania, didn’t do any promotion for the event, or even mention it on social media before his appearance on Pat McAfee’s podcast where he discussed ticket sales and changes he would have made.
However, a different source confirmed The Rock’s claim that he was used to boost ticket sales for the Elimination Chamber. Internally, this was seen as a big boost. Prior to that, creative was working on the assumption he wouldn’t be on WrestleMania; many expected that to change after the event, but were told “not to factor him heavily” into promos.
One “long-time talent” noted that the roster loves seeing Rock at shows, but that the “card is at the mercy of Dwayne” comment from a talent in 2024, “pulls The Rock in both ways.”
A different source said they believe Rock didn’t want to be seen as interfering in WrestleMania, but possibly underestimated how important he was to the story. Several talents added that if there are issues between Rock and Triple H, as speculated, they haven’t filtered down to the locker room.
The Rock’s comments and WrestleMania absence were met with more confusion than frustration, with one talent suggesting it was an “overcorrection” to the reaction to involvement in WrestleMania 40. His absence and the lack of promotion of the event were a big talking point backstage. One star noted, “We all found it kind of weird that he didn’t promote the show at all.”
Rock’s reply to LaGreca was also met with confusion, with talent wondering what he even meant, and questioning whether everything he says to them is also a work.
