WWE Star Tried Advancing R-Truth Storyline Right Before His Shocking Exit

R-Truth

JC Mateo tried to advance his story with R-Truth before the latter announced his exit on Sunday.

Mateo, FKA Jeff Cobb, made his debut in the promotion during the 2025 Backlash PLE, helping Jacob Fatu retain his United States Championship against LA Knight.

The incident immediately created tensions between Fatu and Mateo, and their relationship has only deteriorated despite serving in the same faction, the Bloodline.

Solo Sikoa, meanwhile, has been doing his best to prevent the strain from widening further, yet his prejudice towards Fatu is unmissable.

On the recent episode of SmackDown, Fatu participated in a Money in the Bank triple threat qualifying match against Andrade and Carmelo Hayes.

Midway through the match, Sikoa and Mateo appeared at the ringside and caused a distraction that ultimately cost Fatu a chance in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Sikoa has already qualified.

JC Mateo Tweeted About R-Truth Hours Before His Departure Announcement

Earlier during the episode, the Bloodline was shown entering the arena when the members ran into R-Truth talking to “Little Jimmy.”

Solo mocked Truth for talking to invisible people. With Mateo meeting Truth’s eyes, the latter asked Sikoa if he was his son. He also wondered whether he could take his “husky” son to the ring and teach him a lesson. Later, Mateo met Truth in a singles match, which he won by pinfall.

Hours before R-Truth announced that he was “released” from the Stamford-based company, Mateo took to X to tweet about him. Sikoa’s associate claimed he “hated” the former 24/7 Champion.

Several WWE and AEW stars have reacted to R-Truth’s sudden exit. Meanwhile, fans were furious with the company’s decision to let the veteran go, calling out Chief Content Officer Triple H and TKO.
