One of the biggest developments in WWE during the ‘Triple H era’ has been the company’s willingness to work with other promotions. Since The Game took control, WWE has regularly worked with John Barnett’s Bloodsport, Marigold, TNA, and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

While the relationship between NXT and TNA is still going strong, the other biggest crossover has come with Bloodsport. The deal has seen Charlie Dempsey and Shayna Baszler make multiple appearances, with many more on the horizon.

However, not everyone is sure of the motives behind the relationship.

Tom Lawlor Wary Of WWE Involvement

During an interview with TV Insider, MMA star and pro wrestler Tom Lawlor discussed WWE stars branching out onto the independent scene and into Bloodsport events. The veteran said that while there are positives to WWE names working outside of the company, history has taught him to be wary about what comes next.

“It’s good in some ways, but I’m always leery of what the underlying motive is behind a lot of these things.

We’ve seen for the past 40 years that WWE might play nice for a little bit, but at the end of the day, it’s about them.

Of course, there is a new regime in there, but I don’t know.”

Lawlor then looked back on his match with Brutus Creed and recalled the star throwing up before the contest began. Creed beat Lawlor at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XI back in July, on a card that also featured Shayna Baszler, Julius Creed, and Charlie Dempsey.

For example, I’m wrestling Brutus Creed, and to me, I was on the A side of that match. Brutus Creed wasn’t coming down to do me a favor.

The guy puked before the match because he was so nervous. That match was about me.

I think a lot of guys will go into those situations and downgrade themselves. Like, “Oh, he is a WWE guy. He is on a higher level.

It’s awesome to see these kinds of matchups, but it’s really to their benefit.”

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that MVP will return to action at Bloodsport XII on November 24th to take on Josh Barnett. The match will be MVP’s first in more than two years.
