WWE Star Suffering Survivor’s Guilt After Roster Cuts
As three WWE stars get ready for life after the company, one talent staying put has revealed they felt “survivor’s guilt” when they heard the news.
Unfortunate news broke recently as it emerged WWE had released Indi Hartwell and Tegan Nox from their deals meaning that they’ll be free agents when their 90-day non-compete clauses expire in early 2025.
They are not the only talents departing the company, however, as Baron Corbin was told his contract would not be extended with reports suggesting his current deal expires towards the end of 2024.
Corbin had the longest tenure in WWE of the three and during his time in the company, he was a Lone Wolf, a Constable, Happy, and a bum, as well as a former NXT Tag Team Champion and a United States Champion. Baron Corbin also holds the distinction of being the man to retire WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35.
Carmelo Hayes Explains Guilt After WWE Cuts
Speaking to Metro, SmackDown star Carmelo Hayes has discussed the recent departures and claims that he felt a sense of guilt when he heard the news:
It’s kinda like a survivor’s guilt, you know what I mean? After a day or two, you’re like, “Man!” You just hate to see that for them.
Hayes paid special tribute to Baron Corbin, and revealed that Corbin was like a mentor to him, offering him plenty of advice in and out of the ring:
Listen, Baron was one of the people that actually took a liking to me, and took me under his wing. He did so much for me, he helped me so much, he gave me so much advice. Not just wrestling, life advice, money advice, so many things. I’m forever indebted to Baron Corbin – super talented, and I hate to see him go.
That was one of those ones that really kinda hurt, seeing that, because believe it or not, me and Baron were pretty close, pretty tight. Everybody loved Baron!
Baron Corbin has agreed that WWE fumbled him as his 12-year run in the company comes to a quiet end.
