WWE Star “So Jealous” About Kurt Angle’s Final Match With Baron Corbin

Kurt Angle ankle locks Baron Corbin WrestleMania 35

Former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler has admitted that he was more than a little jealous when he found out Baron Corbin was going to be the man to have Kurt Angle’s last match at WrestleMania 35.

In 2019, the Olympic gold medallist was bringing the curtain down on his wrestling career and starring in several matches on TV against opponents old and new on his way to his retirement bout on the grandest stage of them all.

Angle shared the ring with Apollo Crews, Chad Gable, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles before ultimately Corbin – a controversial choice at best – defeated the WWE Hall of Famer at WrestleMania 35.

Speaking to Comedy Store Wrestling, Dolph Ziggler explained that he was jealous Baron Corbin was the one who got to retire Kurt Angle and says Angle was the reason that he even got a job in pro wrestling:

“I was so jealous about that. They didn’t tell us who was going to do it ’til a couple of weeks out and I was like, ‘man, are they finally going to give me a singles match at WrestleMania and I get to be in the ring with my friggin’ hero Kurt Angle?

“The reason I have a job in wrestling, because I came in at 5’11, 180 lbs is because Kurt Angle was doing so well that they gave me a shot. That’s it. He was so good that I got a tryout.”

Dolph Ziggler eventually got a singles match at WrestleMania in 2020 when he was defeated by Otis, who left with the object of his affection Mandy Rose afterward.
